Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in Norwich

CBT as a treatment

CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) is widely recognised as a flexible and highly effective treatment for a very wide variety of problem behaviours and conditions. In many cases, even when a problem has a clear physical cause, a positive mental state can help to improve it and CBT can help you achieve that.

By combining Hypnosis and CBT this complete process is quicker and even more effective than using CBT as a standalone treatment. This is because it powerfully encourages change on an unconscious emotional level, and strengthens your determination and motivation. The combination of CBT and hypnosis is sometimes known as CBH (Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy).

Reasons to use CBH

CBT in NorwichHypnotherapy, CBT and CBH are increasingly popular, as they are often successful when other forms of treatment falter. Both CBT and CBH can also help to make ongoing medical treatment more effective. Most people find the methods employed in CBT and CBH extremely beneficial as they resolve the causes of problems rather than just treat the symptoms. Because CBT and CBH encourages better coping skills and strategies for now and for the future, this can enable you to develop better use of your own strengths and resources, and helps you to achieve your dreams and full potential, and also has a significantly reduced relapse rate.

CBT is excellent for helping you make positive changes, and then giving you the motivation and techniques to enable you to successfully maintain the changes.

The principle of CBT

The fact is that our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are the result of what we believe or assume about ourselves, others, and the world generally. Therefore, it's mostly what we believe, rather than the situation itself, which determines how we feel and react.

CBT helps you to change these established patterns; first, by bringing your unconscious disruptive beliefs into awareness; then helping you to change these beliefs and replacing them with more helpful and flexible alternatives; and supporting you to behave in new and more positive ways.

All clients will be encouraged to participate fully in their own therapy regime and will be provided with self help assignments to work on between sessions, to follow the sessions planned by your therapist.
